A Sunflower Heart, LLC

Fontayne

is the founder and creator of A Sunflower Heart, LLC, a heart-centered practitioner, and a Certified Teacher of Mindfulness.

During a years-long battle with a debilitating illness, Fontayne found mindfulness and meditation as a way to commune with excruciating emotional and physical pain.  Learning to observe her thoughts and feelings in the moment allowed her the space to focus on the present. She credits this practice as a major reason she was able to heal and move into remission and feels called to share it with both young and old.

It was in 2017, during a screening of the documentary HEAL, that she became aware of Mindful Schools. Its mission to create mindful and heart-centered learning environments in which all community members are supported to thrive ignited a fire within her. There was a knowing that mindfulness is something children could learn from a young age to help protect their social, emotional and physical wellbeing. She began sharing the work in schools in 2018 and became a certified teacher of the Mindful Schools Curriculum (K-12) in 2020.

Fontayne studied Social Work and Psychology and obtained her Bachelors in Social Work from The University of Vermont. She has always been interested in working with individuals, groups and communities to help develop skills and provide resources to empower and support their individual and collective goals.

She loves spending time outside, reading and traveling. She lives in Delaware with her husband, two teenage sons and their sweet goldendoodle Kayla.
